Nestled between Camelback mountain and a boulder outcropping is a hidden retreat. Created as a refuge for the owners who live part time in Bora Bora, this personal oasis whispers luxury and Zen living for an every day escape while remaining just minutes from the bustle of downtown life. A neutral palette accented by clean lines and subtle bursts of sea blue creates the ultimate in comfortable minimalism. Custom handcrafted shoji doors and hand carved balustrades and furnishings reminiscent of the arts and crafts of French Polynesia reflect Elizabeth’s passion for art and originality displayed in her work. A custom table in the living room designed by Elizabeth was once the remains of a 10’ diameter stump left from the logging days of California 150 years ago. Given permission by the department of forestry in Mendocino County, Elizabeth and a group of artisans set forth to find a tree that when cut would permanently tell a tale of 1500 years in the growth rings found in sequence across the four blocks of the table. Because of the strict rules of the department of Forestry, each block had to be cut on site and lifted out without disturbing the forest floor. because of the extreme moisture content The blocks of wood, weighed over 2000 lbs. They are now retained as a permanent piece of history and sculpture in the living room of this residence. |
