Set against an extraordinary site of towering cliffe and national forest in Tuscon Arizona, lies a desert haven. Complex and sophisticated this 31,000 sq ft home is as comfortable for two as it is for entertaining over 200. All spaces open to magnificent vistas to the north and south. Simple yet sculptural furnishings compliment the architecture. Rich bold colors rooted in southwestern tradition accent the earthy palette of concrete floors, natural stone walls, and vertical grain Douglas fir cabinetry. Special attention was given to the interplay of materials. Alongside the irregularities of raked concrete walls, massing of stone, and large surfaces of glass and steel are soft chenille's and smooth leathers, emphasizing the duality of the strength of material palette in the architecture and the invitation of creature comforts. |
